~WELCOME TO MY BLOG~

Hello I'm Karen...I am a Southern Gal who loves making my home a warm, comfortable and happy place for my family.
The idea of starting a blog has been very appealing to me as a way to share my ideas and be inspired by others too. So here I am writing my first post.

I am a born and raised Native Floridian. Most people are surprised and say they have never met anyone who grew up there. For most of my life I had never met anyone who hadn't. North Georgia then became home for 15 years and I have adult children who still live near Atlanta. The Midwest was not a place we had considered living, after all it's pretty far away and we did not know anyone or have any connections there. There is a perfect plan for all of us though and now Iowa is home along with my darling husband, 2 pups and a teenage son.

After 3 years the shock of bitter cold is still fresh but it has become something I expect and actually look forward to. We do love the snow and all the fun outdoor activities it offers. Also the holidays just seem that much more special and cozy when looking out the window and seeing the beauty of winter.
I have learned to use a snow blower and also how to shovel the driveway. Wow, you can sure work up a sweat even when its 20 degrees outside! Maybe that's a job better left to the guys. My darling Kevin is still trying to get me to practice driving on the ice in an empty parking lot. He says it will teach me how to have better control of the vehicle when conditions are bad. That is something that I keep putting off and he just shakes his head and reminds me he will be patient till I'm ready. He is so easy to love. It's very exciting to start sharing all the projects taking place in our home and believe me, with a 1950's ranch there is no shortage of things that need some TLC.

Thanks again for stopping by and I am so looking forward to participating in this wonderful world of blogging.

  4. Karen -- definitely practice on the ice in an empty parking lot. You may need that skill one day so be prepared. Welcome to the midwest. I was born and raised in Kansas. You will have 4 distinct seasons in Iowa! I found you from Kris's blog when you were featured.
