There is just something about having all the errands done and settling in for the afternoon and evening waiting for the big event. It really puts me in the Holiday spirit and what a better time than a week before Thanksgiving. I guess that "spirit" prompted the purchase of a new tree yesterday for the living room (old tree is too big for the space) and plans are to set it up and start decorating after we stuff ourselves with turkey and pumpkin pie!
Anyway, this is what we woke to this morning.
I'm sure I was the only one outside taking pictures LOL!
I can't help it, just don't want to miss having pictures to share with all my family & buddies who still reside south of the Mason Dixon Line. They all want to know how I deal with the cold and my reply is...
just traded in my sandals for a pair of these.
They are fun and the cute fur trim gives them a little bit of a feminine flair. My little Oaks absolutely loves this time of year. He has a thick coat and enjoys the playtime in the snow with mommy.
He gives this move to the Midwest a big thumbs up!
The sun is out now so we will be back outside to enjoy some time before it turns to slush and then it's gone.
Have a Super Saturday!
Karen
LOL- I remember that joy when I was a kid and loved to get a big snow. Being born and raised in PA we had lots of snow -but worse- the ice storms were bad, too.
ReplyDeleteI lived in FL for many years and never really adapted to the cold weather we have in WI. Brrrrrr....glad you are liking it. What state are you in? xo Diana
Iowa, I am finding out what winter really is :)
DeleteHi Karen, the first snow is beautiful. Growing up in Michigan we had knee deep snow many times for Thanksgiving. Really gives the holiday feel. We don't see this here in Texas.Maybe a dusting about once a season but that's it. We get ice instead!! Your sweet little pooch is adorable. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. xo
ReplyDeleteI did not realize it snowed at all in Texas. A light dusting is very nice though and I agree with you on the ice, no one wants that. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.

Karen,
ReplyDeleteWe have not had any snow yet but I do still get excited at the first snow of the season like I did when I was a kid!!
Thanks for sharing your first snow!! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hugs,
Deb
Born and raised in PA, I was use to tons of snow but moved South 4 years ago and rarely see it now. Although I do miss snow around the holidays. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving Kelly!
DeleteThe snow is pretty when you don't have to be out in it! We got about as much snow as you, which surprised the weather folks since they didn't see it coming. Ha! Have a lovely Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you!!
DeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteyour snow is beautiful! We lived in Green Bay for 3 years and were always so excited for the first snow to come! It was so gorgeous, we loved it there! Growing up in southern CA, moving to NC in my early 30's, where we got a little once in a while, then to Green Bay which was a huge change of weather but so much fun! Here in TN, we get a little that covers the ground, just enough to make it pretty at least once during the winter. A few times we've been lucky enough for it to fall on Christmas!
Rebecca
Thanks Rebecca, the snow was gone quickly as the weather warmed up and we got some rain but here in Iowa, we know it will be back soon enough :)

I'm still waiting for the snow to arrive to my mountain home - and I'm like a child that way, too - I love the snow!! Not so much the shoveling, though.....:)
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the shoveling...you can definitely work up a sweat even when its below freezing!
ReplyDeleteNever knew that before :)
